Alder Hey Childrens hospital project begins

Today we started off our project at Alder Hey Hospital, where , over the next few weeks we’ll be working with the brave kids in several wards to discuss ideas and design a new mural for within their new Youth Cafe alongside the Arts team there.

Alder Hey in Liverpool is the busiest children’s hospital in Europe. Since 1914 it have led the way in the care of sick children and we now treat more than 250,000 young patients every year. The hospital is the birthplace of modern paediatric anaesthesia; neonatal surgery and children’s cardiac surgery were pioneered in the 1940′s and 1950′s.

HISTORY

The hospital boasts an amazing array of murals created over decades, brightening up the labyrinth of corridors and wards of the hospital by artists such as David Peet (Images of some of this work below)..It housed at one time, the largest mural in the world.. and so for us ,it’s a real honour to be asked to facilitate this project.

MORE INFO SOON including, if possible, a photo log of some more of the amazing murals here.
